Here comes Olivia.
However you birth, you are strong and your birth is valid.
Briana and Cameron have a love story you see in the movies (or on blogs… because it’s actually published!) and when I was asked to photograph their birth and fresh 48… I basically jumped up and down. This birth was so very important to them, as it would be their first and last child together. Bri has a child from before Cameron in which he has since adopted…basically its the sweetest. Bri had suffered for so long with Endometritis, as well as Adenomyosis and was due to get a hysterectomy soon after birth. This would be the only chance we had to capture the birth. In the Rochester area, it is not super common that a photographer is allowed in the OR and at first we were given a big fat “No”, but Bri was an incredible advocate for herself and what this meant to her and her family… Medical staff allowed us to capture these incredible images.
We waited around in the room for a while past her scheduled C-section time due to an emergency C-section that was taken back, but those moments were filled with lots of love, snuggles and giggles. Their child, Beckett, came back for snuggles and talked about how excited he was to soon meet his little sister saying he already knows she will be so beautiful! My heart definitely melted at that! Once they took Bri back, Cameron and I had to wait in the hallway for what felt like an eternity. Once she was prepped, we got taken back into the OR and within minutes…Cameron and Bri were having conversation that was interrupted with the cry of their daughter taking her first breath. The look on their faces was amazing- jaws dropped and huge smiles. Then seconds after-over the curtain peeked Olivia’s sweet face for mom and dad to get their first look at her!
While medical staff checked vitals on Olivia, she gripped dads hand tightly and was soothed by the sound of his voice. Once they were complete, they took her over and places her right on moms chest- where she remained all the way until she got back to the recovery room!
Beckett was amazed at his sister now in moms arm’s and no longer in her belly. They shared the most beautiful moments together. I’m so humbled to have been a part of this!
